I’m excited to share these easy VEGAN MEATBALLS made with TVP. TVP is a meat substitute made from Soy flour and it is super high in protein. I used TVP from Bob's Red Mill, one of my favourite brands! Enjoy these bad boys in a meatball sub or in your pasta. Details below!
Vegan TVP Meatballs
Bake Time: 20min Total Time: 30min
Ingredients:
1 cup TVP (textured vegetable protein)
¾ cup veggie broth
1 and ½ tbsp tamari
¼ tsp liquid smoke
2 tbsp nutritional yeast
¼ cup breadcrumbs
1 tbsp all purpose flour
1 tsp garlic
A few shakes of smoked paprika
Salt and Pepper
Method:
Preheat the oven to 400F.
Bring ¾ cup of veggie broth to a simmer, add in your TVP and turn off the heat. Stir until the TVP has softened in the broth.
Add in tamari, liquid smoke, paprika, garlic and salt and pepper. Mix until combined.
Add your bread crumbs, nutritional yeast and flour and mix until you get a thick dough consistency. You should be able to roll the mixture into well formed balls. If the mixture is too dry add in a bit of olive oil. If the mixture is too wet add in some more flour.
Line a baking sheet, drizzle with oil, and bake for 20min.
Warm up tomato sauce on your stove top and add in the cooked meatballs. Enjoy in pasta, as a meatball sub, or as is!
